As a recent college graduate, I’ve been flooded with new responsibilities, new stressors and new bills. Knowing that inspiration comes to me from the most unexpected places, I try to keep my mind open on ways on how to solve some the problems that I’ve been faced with lately. I try to relax and I notice how I can become more productive.

As a writer, a student and a scientist I know that states of relaxation can bring forth new creativity and new solutions to some of the issues we might be facing every day. I think that as citizens of America we face incredible amounts of stress every day, people are dealing with many things at one time, and raising enough money to make ends meet can be a hustle sometimes. Yet, I believe it is important that we keep in mind to keep a relaxed state of being through any situation.

It might sound counterintuitive, however being relaxed allows us to solve problems much more efficiently and effectively. States of relaxation not only allow you to think more clearly and make better decisions, but they help maintain mental and physiological health. Staying relaxed controls anger outbursts, making hurried decisions that may cost us more in the long run and manages hormone release in the body that essentially control organ function and mood regulation. Additionally, other bodily mechanisms like sleep, hunger and sexual drive may be controlled and regulated by the management of stress through relaxation.

To relax is easy. There are many tools that we can use to relax while staying productive and focused on work. Listening to mild beats can be a great option for computer workers and students to synchronize to calmer states of being. Productivity has been known to increase if you find yourself in a relaxed state.

Yoga and stretching are some of my favorite exercises for relaxation. It is easy and universal, and it helps you unify to your core being. Finding inspiration after a yoga sequence may be easy and fun. Doing yoga can be simple, by simply reaching down to touch your toes, and exploring your down dog, you can start to develop a personal practice.

Similarly, more strenuous exercise can really help an individual release endorphins, pain inhibitors, oxygenate the circulatory system and bring blood flow into the brain. Exercise, like running a couple of miles a week, biking and hitting the weights, can release positive neurotransmitters into your body that will last for hours after completing your work out. This can help someone sort through personal issues, distract oneself from stressful routines, and give you a window where you can work on your personal health and well being. This will help you strengthen your personal image and will reward you by the simple physiological effects exercise has on the body. Sleep is improved, and appetite controlled.

In conclusion, if we want to be better at what we do and even increase our productivity, we must focus on how well we can relax and how good our mood remains through the day. Over the years staying relaxed through trivial problems can help us build a happy and healthy life. Problems to us at the immediate moment seem like the end of the world, but if we remain positive, happy and relaxed most times than not they will become small problems that we didn’t allow to take our happiness from us.
